LYTTELTON Port Company (LPC) has selected 1-Stop as its new vehicle booking system for the South Island’s largest port and container terminal.

LPC’s CityDepot facility in Woolston is to be the first location to use the VBS with bookings through the system expected to begin next month.

The main container terminal is to take up the system later this year, with two other LPC facilities, MidlandPort and the Empty Container Yard, to follow in 2019.

LPC chief executive Peter Davie said the system would provide a step change in service.

“It is a new area in freight efficiency for our customers, starting at our CityDepot in Woolston which manages the majority (70%) of Christchurch’s empty containers,” he said.

“It is also an important part of our planned port investment to manage future freight growth.”

1-Stop’s VBS is used in 13 terminals across Australia, New Zealand and the Philippines.
