TOTAL container throughput at Port Botany for the month of June came to 199,358 TEU, according to the latest statistics available from NSW Ports.
This was up 5.4% over the same month last year’s throughput of 189,175 TEU, but down 5.6% over May 2017’s 211,259 TEU throughput.
This past month’s container trade through the Port was split roughly evenly between imports and exports, with imports totalling 100,686 TEU – slightly more than the month’s exports.
Trade in empty containers through Botany totalled 54,660 TEU for June 2017, with the lion’s share (53,271 TEU) exported. No surprises there.
Imports of full containers totalled 99,297 TEU for the month, while exports were 45,401 TEU.
Containership calls at Port Botany were up 9% on the same month last year, with 95 calls.
The bulk of the vessels (29) were in the 5000-6000 TEU range, with the second largest category being the 4000-5000 TEU range.
One vessel in the 7000-8000 TEU range called at Botany over the month.
