MARCH was a busy month for the Port of Bundaberg, with six ships calling at the port over the month – an increase on the 10-year average of one to two vessel calls per month.
Port of Bundaberg manager Joe Pascoe said more than 106,000 tonnes of cargo was handled.
“Raw sugar and molasses accounted for the bulk of throughput at the Port of Bundaberg in March,” he said.
“Silica sand and wood pellet exports were also well represented, with the products showing positive signs of growth.”
One shipment in March was a load of gypsum bound for the new Knauf plasterboard facility, which has contributed to throughput growth at the port since starting up last year.
