Canberra turmoil upends Home Affairs portfolio

A FAILED attempt to topple Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull has ramifications for the freight sector, with Peter Dutton resigning from cabinet and moving to the back bench.


Treasurer Scott Morrison is to act as Home Affairs Minister until a Cabinet reshuffle is confirmed.

It is widely anticipated that Mr Dutton will make further attempts to win the support of parliamentary colleagues and secure the top job.

The next federal election is expected next year.
