ROYAL Caribbean’s Voyager of the Seas, reportedly Australia’s second largest cruise ship, made its maiden call to Wollongong on last week.
This makes the ship the largest and second passenger cruise ship to visit the South Coast city.
Hundreds of local volunteers reportedly welcomed almost 4000 guests who spent the day in port exploring the city and nearby surrounds.
As part of the formalities, ship’s Captain Sindre Borsheim received a framed print of the city and a carving from a local indigenous elder from promotional group Destination Wollongong and Councillor Leigh Colacino.
Voyager of the Seas returns to Wollongong again on January 18, while Radiance of the Seas returns in January 2018 and Explorer of the Seas make its maiden visit in March 2018.
