A FORMER Austrade figure has been appointed as head of trade policy and industry engagement for the Export Council of Australia.
Heath Baker takes on the role having spent four years at Austrade, with roles including manager of trade policy, state director for New South Wales and the ACT and as Trade Commissioner in Seoul.
Prior to Austrade, Mr Baker spent four years in the Department of the Prime Minister and Cabinet, mostly within its international policy division. He also spent 18 months as an intelligence analyst.
He also spent five years in investment banking, working with Macquarie, JP Morgan Chase and Credit Suisse First Boston prior to joining the public sector.
ECA chief executive Lisa McAuley said with a full agenda ahead, they were keen to engage with members and industry partners.
“We look forward to a busy year ahead working closely with our members and industry partners to advance the interests of Australian companies engaged in trade,” Ms McAuley said.
