FORMER agents from the Great Southern Shipping Australia Pty Ltd have sought the intervention of the Fair Work Commission to secure what they say are their entitlements.
The matter was set to be heard by Commissioner Bissett in Melbourne this morning but is being held behind closed doors meaning the media cannot cover proceedings.
It is understood, however, the former agents are seeking to be recognised as employees rather than contractors, ensuring they become secured creditors and qualify for the Fair Entitlements Guarantee.
The cases of three agents were listed to be heard today, although some five were listed as of Monday.
Meanwhile a further meeting of GSSA Pty Ltd creditors is expected in Melbourne on February 9.
GSSA began with much hype mid-last year but quickly ran into financial trouble and ultimately delivered very little freight.
