Fremantle container throughput steady in June

WESTERN Australia’s main container port has seen steady container throughput over the past four months.

Fremantle Port’s total containerised throughput in June 2017 was 58,077 TEU, a very slight decrease (1%) on the previous month’s throughput of 58,797 TEU.

Since March, the port’s container throughput has hovered between 58,000 TEU and 58,800 TEU.

However, Freo’s throughput in June 2017 was up 7% on the same month in 2016.

Looking closer at June 2017’s numbers, we see exports from Fremantle totalled 27,242 TEU over the month. Included in these exports are 9071 TEU of empty containers, 18,168 TEU of full direct shipments and 3 TEU of transhipped containers.

Imports through the port totalled 30,835 TEU, including 2919 TEU of empty containers, and 27,912 TEU of full containers (and 4 TEU was transhipped).
