GEELONGPORT and the Mission to Seafarers Geelong are working to shine a light on the impact that smoking has on the health and wellbeing of seafarers.
It is estimated that tobacco kills more than 7m people per year, with more than 6m caused by direct tobacco use.
GeelongPort HSE advisor Dr Lisa Mills said: “We are committed to the provision and maintenance of a safe working environment to ensure the health and safety of everyone who interacts with our business.
“This smoke-free campaign aligns directly to improving the health and wellbeing of seafarers and we are proud to be a part of it.”
The ongoing campaign aims to provide educational and awareness materials to seafarers, including support and connections to services to assist with quitting the habit.
