MAVERICK Tasmanian Jacqui Lambie is to quit parliament.

Senator Lambie has confirmed to national media she is a British citizen via her Scottish father.

Originally elected to parliament as part of Clive Palmer’s team, the Senator subsequently became known for her outspoken views on a host of topics, including veterans’ affairs and coastal shipping laws.

She attended several industry events to promote coastal shipping late last year, including the 2016 Australian Shipping and Maritime Industry Awards.

Another cause close to her heart was a fast catamaran to operate between Victoria and Tasmania, publicly lobbying transport magnate Lindsay Fox on the topic.

It is expected she will run for the Senate again in the future.
