NORTH Queensland Bulk Ports Corporation has welcomed the arrival of cargo vessel CMB Rubens (IMO 9832640) to the Port of Mackay for the first time.
In a statement published online, NQBP said its marine pilot Philip Palmer guided the ship into port, presenting its captain and crew with a commemorative plaque to mark the ship’s maiden voyage.
Arriving earlier this month, the vessel carried a cargo of raw sugar.
Built in Japan and commissioned in June, the 199-metre ship was built for global shipping company E.K Line S.A, Panama. It is flagged in the Marshall Islands.
Mackay is an important multi-commodity port for Queensland in terms of cargo throughput.
According to NQBP, primary commodities traded include fuel, grain and sugar products.
