International ship registry, Maritime Cook Islands, has commemorated Day of the Seafarer with the first Cook Islands Maritime careers expo.
The ship registry initiated and organised the event together with several Cook Islands government bodies including Cook Islands Ministry of Education, Ports Authority and Cook Islands Tourism.
The event was held at Avatiu Wharf allowed attendees to “explore a spectrum of career opportunities” available within the maritime industry, both locally and overseas.
Students were said to have gained insights on qualifications and skills as well as career in maritime career progression.
The event was attended by more than 900 students from Rarotonga and while 23 flew in from Aitatuki.
