REPRESENTATIVES of Teekay Shipping and BHP are set to meet in Sydney this week as part of Federal Court mediation efforts aimed at resolving a dispute.
The mining giant is being sued by the company it dumped for a non-union competitor in 2015.
In that year, it was reported that Rivtow, a subsidiary of Queensland business Riverside Marine, was to take over BHP Billiton’s tug tasks at Port Hedland.
Teekay Shipping Australia has alleged the miner failed to pay redundancy entitlements.
Mediation is set for Sydney on Tuesday January 23.
A further case management hearing is scheduled for February 8 before Justice Rares.
