SAILORS who served in the Merchant Navy during both World Wars are to be remembered during a service in Canberra later this month.

The 29th Annual Commemoration at the National Merchant Navy War Memorial is to be held at Kings Park, Canberra, on Sunday 21 October at 11am.

Chairman of the Merchant Navy War Memorial Fund, David Field, said it was important to recognise “the very significant role of the Australian Merchant Navy during WW1 and WWII” and honour “the memory of Australian Merchant Navy mariners who gave their lives in service to their country”.
