CENTRAL LNG Shipping Japan Corporation (CLS) has ordered a newbuild LNG bunker vessel from Kawasaki Heavy Industries; it is to be the first such vessel to operate in Japan.
Due for delivery in late 2020, the vessel will have an LNG cargo tank capacity of 3500 cubic metres, LOA of 81.7 metres and a gross tonnage of 4100 tonnes.
CLS is a joint-venture established by “K” Line, Chubu Electric Power, Toyota Tsusho and NYK Line. The four companies also established the Central LNG Marine Fuel Japan Corporation (CLMF) back in May to serve the LNG bunker market in Japan.
The new vessel is to be owned and managed by CLS, and LNG will be supplied to end-users through CLMF. Chubu Electric Power is to act as the LNG supplier for the venture.
