SVITZER Australia is seeing a changing of the guard with Nicolaj Noes stepping in as managing director as Steffen Risager returns to Denmark with his family.
Mr Risager said: “Over the past three years we have delivered significant improvements to Svitzer Australia. I am proud to hand over a business in good shape, and well positioned to further improve safety and efficiencies in ports across Australia.”
Svitzer CEO Henriette Thygesen thanked Mr Risager for his contributions to Svitzer, both globally and particularly in Australia.
Mr Noes is to take the managing director mantle on 9 July, bringing a working knowledge of the Australian containerised shipping industry and global experience.
He joined the Maersk Group in 1991 and has served in roles in Australia, the UK, the US, Singapore and China, ascending to the role of managing director for Maersk Line in Australia in 2010.
During his time in the role, Mr Noes served as a director of Shipping Australia and also on the NSW Government’s Freight Advisory Council.
And then, in August 2015, Mr Noes was appointing head of Asia Pacific liner operations cluster in Singapore.
“I look forward to a collaborative and fruitful relationship with my colleagues, our customers and the shipping community, continuing the good work currently underway at Svitzer Australia,” Mr Noes said.
