TAHITIAN stevedoring and logistics company JA Cowan & Fils has begun using a new semi-automatic telescopic overheight frame in order to boost overall efficiency.
The overheight frame (BA-03HT) was purchased from Queensland-based container materials handling distributor TEC Container Asia Pacific.
The frame arrived in Papeete, French Polynesia in July and has been in operation in the depot of JA Cowan & Fils since then. The frame was procured for lifting bolster containers, flat racks and other overheight cargoes.
JA Cowan & Fils general secretary Enzo Silvestro said the overheight frame added to their overall capability of lifting additional cargo in a safe and efficient method.
JA Cowan & Fils is a stevedoring, logistics and harbour handling company established almost a century ago. The company provides logistics and harbour handling services in French Polynesia.
This particular overheight frame is said to be ideal for moderate oversized cargo traffic optimising safety and efficiency.
“It’s the middle ground between fully automatic and manual drive models,” a TEC Container spokesman said.
