LNG carrier Pacific Breeze is in Darwin Harbour, delivering a load of liquefied gas to the Ichthys LNG project.

The load is being delivered to the facility as part of the start-up process. The LNG is being used to cool the tanks and pipes ahead of the facility’s commissioning.

The vessel was delivered in early March to “K” Line after construction was completed by Kawasaki Heavy Industries.

Pacific Breeze (IMO 9698123) is the largest Moss-type LNG carrier, with a capacity of 182,000 cubic metres. It was built specifically to carry LNG from the Ichthys LNG project at Bladin Point.

The US$34bn Ichthys LNG project is expected to produce 8.9m tonnes of LNG per year, along with 1.6m tonnes of LPG per year. Production is scheduled to begin this year.
