PILBARA Ports Authority is inviting local residents to name its new Integrated Marine Operations Centre.

The IMOC, which is slated to open next year, is to oversee the safe and efficient movement of about 6000 vessels per year through the colossal bulk export port.

PPA has suggested some guidelines for Port Hedland residents for their name submissions, saying they must meet the following criteria:

  • The name must have an association with the port and/or have historical significance to the Port Hedland community;
  • The name must not be politically affiliated, or connected to the private sector;
  • A person submitting a name suggestion must be a resident within the town of Port Hedland boundary, and/or be a Pilbara Ports Authority employee working in Port Hedland; and
  • Name suggestions must be submitted via the online form on Pilbara Ports Authority’s website with all required fields completed.

Submissions close at 5pm on Wednesday 3 October 2018.
