COMPANIES have now been invited to register their interest to build the 107km section of the Inland Rail between Parkes to Narromine.
The project includes a 5.3km connection in a greenfield corridor, in addition to upgrading and reconstructing sections of existing track.
Additionally, the project will include track and civil works for the new connection corridor; upgrading, relocating and consolidating level crossings; and ancillary works such as flood immunity, stormwater, draining and fencing improvements.
Federal infrastructure minister Darren Chester said construction on the section is expected to commence early next year.
“Inland Rail will transform the way we move freight around the country, connecting regional industries and communities to domestic and international markets,” he said.
“Suitably experienced companies are invited to apply to join a shortlist which will then proceed to a formal Expressions of Interest phase. Evaluation criteria will include company experience, suitability for the project, and a demonstrated ability to carry out the works.”
