SEATRADE Group has announced the appointment of Quay Shipping Australia as its Australian agent.
Seatrade is to expand its Meridian service to include Australia on a weekly fixed day rotation in a vessel sharing agreement service with CMA CGM and Marfret.
Seatrade is to deploy six ships of the thirteen vessels in the service.
Seatrade was established in 1951 and owns and operates more than 100 ships.
Starting as a specialised reefer vessel owner Seatrade has expanded its business steadily.
The most recent expansion was the new container ship building program that started in 2014, with vessels delivered from September last year.
According to Seatrade, the Australia service would see “brand new modern vessels and equipment deployed within the Meridian service providing excellent service for Australian importers and exporters of refrigerated, frozen and general cargo”.
“Quay’s experience and expertise within the Australia market acting as exclusive agents for long term committed principals Sinotrans Container Line and Pacific Forum Line, provides Seatrade with an immediate established customer base,” the company stated,
“Seatrade will complement the non-competitive niche market principals serviced by Quay.”
