REPRESENTATIVES of Toll Group and the Transport Workers Union are set to hold talks this week in an effort to resolve an industrial row.
A strike remains a distinct possibility, however, with workers having endorsed this as an option.
A Toll spokesperson said discussions are set for Wednesday and Friday.
A TWU spokesperson said they attended a conciliation hearing with Toll on Friday after “heated meetings” which occurred at yards around the country involving thousands of transport workers.
“Workers challenged management on the stalled enterprise agreement talks involving proposed cuts to working hours,” the spokesperson said.
“At these meetings, workers overwhelmingly endorsed strike action and this week a vote will open on this action.” Toll last week successfully sought Fair Work Commission intervention in preventing workers taking unprotected industrial action.
