PILBARA Ports Authority reported an increase in total throughput for July – up 6% on the same month last year.
Total throughput at the ports was reported at 56.1m tonnes for the month.
Port Hedland accounted for most of that, with 41.5m tonnes total throughput for the month – an increase of 7% on the same month last year.
Of that, 40.1m tonnes were iron ore exports, which was an increase of 7% on last year.
Imports through Port Hedland saw a 27% increase over the period, reaching 171,000 tonnes this past July.
Port of Dampier also saw significant increases in imports over last year, increasing 52% to 108,000 tonnes.
However, Dampier saw a slight decrease in total throughput, down 3% to 13.8m tonnes.
