COMMISSIONER of the Federal Maritime Commission of the United States, Rebecca Dye, has been confirmed as a keynote speaker at the upcoming Global Shippers Forum in Melbourne.

Ms Dye is to present on supply chain visibility and performance and is also expected to provide an update on ongoing investigations into container detention and demurrage.

The FMC has set up an Inquiry into detention and demurrage practices following a campaign by beneficial cargo owners known as the ‘Coalition for Fair Port Practices’.

The Commissioner is to join presenters from the World Bank, the United Nations Conference for Trade and Development and the World Customs Organisation.

This year’s Forum is being held on 10 & 11 May and is hosted by the Freight & Trade Alliance, the International Cargo Handling Coordination Association and the Australian Peak Shippers Association (APSA).
