VICTORIA International Container Terminal has taken legal action against the Maritime Union and the CFMEU regarding the Webb Dock picket late last year.

The company believes the unions should be held in contempt of court.

In documents lodged with the Supreme Court, VICT lawyers argue the MUA should be punished for its “contempt in breaching the order of the Honourable Justice McDonald made on Tuesday, 12 December 2017”.

VICT argues that on the afternoon of December 14, MUA officials Will Tracey, Chris Cain and Joe Italia came within 100 metres of the truck gate, allegedly breaching the earlier court order.

A date for the hearing is still to be confirmed.

A spokesman for the MUA declined to comment “as the matter is before the courts”.
