VIDEO: Cement carrier pulverised after harbour entrance mishap

FOOTAGE has been revealed of an aging cement carrier foundering on a breakwall in Iceland.

Media reports said the 1976-built Fjordvik (IMO 7423249 ) was inbound to the Port of Helguvik when it apparently missed the harbour entrance.

It is understood the crew of the ship were safely evacuated.

Fjordvik is flagged in the Bahamas. The MarineTraffic website shows the ship was previously named the Westport and sailed under the flag of New Zealand.
