VIVA Energy Australia Pty Ltd (“Viva Energy”) is proud to announce that its Newport Terminal has marked its 100th year in operation, supplying and distributing fuels and lubricants throughout Victoria.

Viva Energy’s Newport Terminal Manager, Michael Iapichello, said the Terminal has been an important part of the Newport business community for the past century and continues to be critical to driving the State’s economy.

“Newport Terminal receives, stores and distributes fuel products which have been transferred, supplying a third of Victoria’s fuel needs,” said Michael.

“The Terminal and its employees have been actively involved in the community throughout the years, including supporting the local cricket club,” he said.

“In its heyday in the 1970s the Terminal employed more than 500 people. Throughout the years technological and business improvements has resulted in the terminal undergoing many changes; however, a heritage listing on a number of riveted tanks means that this important part of Melbourne’s industrial history will be preserved.”

Viva Energy is the exclusive licensee to the Shell brand in Australia and was launched following the purchase of the Shell in Australia downstream business (excluding aviation). In addition to its 920 plus service station network and its Geelong Refinery (VIC), Viva Energy operates bulk fuels, bitumen, marine, chemicals and lubricants businesses supported by more than 20 storage terminals across the country.
