GLOBAL logistics solutions group WiseTech Global has announced the acquisition of Pierbridge, a parcel shipping transportation management solution provider in the United States.

Pierbridge is said to have a focus on medium and large shippers in the USA and is based in the state of Massachusetts, also having development offices in the UK and Finland.

Pierbridge technology automates several large shipping operations across the manufacturing, healthcare, financial, technology and e-commerce sectors for entities including including, Siemens, US Homeland Security, BNY Mellon Bank, Texas Instruments, Genentech, Mazda, Home Depot and Menards.

WiseTech Global founder and chief executive Richard White said E-commerce was driving parcel shipment growth internationally and domestically.

“Across the WiseTech Global group we are building out the cargo chain ecosystem to deliver real-time visibility, control over margins, faster movement, more efficient use of resources and error reduction across all transport modes for our customers,” Mr White said.

“Bringing the Pierbridge parcel shipping TMS expertise and multi-region development teams into the WiseTech Global group now expands and accelerates the development of our scalable high-volume domestic and international fulfillment e-commerce solutions.”

Pierbridge managing director Bob Malley said becoming part of the WiseTech Global group was an exciting step forward.

“E-commerce is driving worldwide demand for smaller, more frequent, last-mile delivery of shipments across borders,” Mr Malley said.

“By integrating our parcel TMS solutions with WiseTech’s CargoWise One platform, we will enable Pierbridge customers and partners to extend control of parcel shipping processes well beyond North America.”

The transaction follows other recent WiseTech acquisitions in Canada, Europe, North America, Australasia, Turkey, Argentina, Brazil, Uruguay and Taiwan.

It is said to be in line with WiseTech Global’s strategy of accelerating long-term organic growth.
