A MAINTENANCE contractor at Patrick’s Port Botany terminal hurt his leg after apparently falling from a Liebherr crane on Tuesday.

The incident occurred about 4.35pm and resulted in work stopping at the auto-straddle terminal area for about an hour.

A Patrick spokesman said the contractor was doing a rope inspection when he fell from the point at which he was working.

Fortunately his harness prevented him falling far.

The spokesman said authorities had been informed and they would cooperate with all inquiries.

A SafeWork spokesman they had been “made aware of an incident at Patrick Stevedores in Port Botany… and an investigation is underway”.
