AN EXHIBITION highlighting the role of containers in international trade has reached the sleepy town of Narrabri in northern New South Wales.

The exhibition, hosted by Narrabri Shire Council, was entitled The ‘Container – the box that changed the world was officially opened in the town as part of a regional tour of the state.

Locals welcomed the exhibition by presenting organisers with a container cake.

NSW Ports chief executive Marika Calfas said containerisation helped connect regional areas with the world.

“Container shipping connects NSW with the rest of the world, bringing us everything from the clothes that you wear, to the shoes on your feet, the fridge in your kitchen, the TV in your living room, office furniture and more,” Ms Calfas said.

“NSW Ports is proud to be a major sponsor of the exhibition, which helps explain the critical role ports play in our daily lives and in the economy.

“Special thanks to Narrabri Shire Council for hosting the exhibition – we loved the container cake.”
