EIGHT new empty container handlers from Kalmar are to be added to China Merchants Port Group’s mobile equipment fleet.
The group has established a large port network covering ports along the coast of China, including Hong Kong, Taiwan, Shenzhen, Ningbo, Shanghai, Qingdao, Tianjin, Dalian, Zhangzhou, Zhenjiang and Shantou.
In 2018, China Merchants Port Group’s container terminals achieved an annual throughput of 109.73m TEU.
In the future, more than 30 Kalmar reachstackers and empty container handlers are to support the container handling businesses of the group and its terminals.
Kalmar maintains two senior service engineers at the port service station of Shantou CMPort to support the daily operation of the terminal.
Kalmar Essential Range of empty container handlers (DCU80-100) offers a choice of three different lifting capacities – eight, nine and 10 tonnes – and four different mast heights each with different stacking capabilities.
All Essential Range reachstackers and empty container handlers come fitted with a load sensing hydraulic system.
“Since its delivery of first machine to Shantou China Merchants Port Group in 1992, Kalmar has established a stable partnership with the customer for more than 20 years,” Kalmar China solution sales director Alex Tang said.
“The machines that are currently being used by Shantou China Merchants Port Group cover almost every generation of Kalmar reachstackers and container handlers.”
