CONTAINER throughput at the Port of Fremantle dropped in June, compared with May’s year high, according to the latest trade statistics available from Fremantle Ports.

Total throughput for June 2019 was reported to be 63,045 TEU, a 7.9% decrease on May’s figures, and 774 TEU (or 1.2%) less than June 2018’s throughput. Despite the dip, the port is keeping track with 2018 with throughput down just 0.1% through the first six months.

Of June’s total throughput, 32,204 TEU was exported; of that, 1.6% was coastal trade, the rest headed for overseas. Containers from the coastal trade, however, made up a larger portion of import throughput. Of the total 30,841 TEU imported, 27.8% was coastal, the remaining bring imported from overseas.
