MELBOURNIAN container transport operator Arrow Transport and Logistics announced recently it had acquired Sydney Sideloaders, a Sydney-based container transport business.

Sydney Sideloaders operates primarily from its site at the corner of McCauley and Botany roads, directly opposite Port Botany terminals.

From this site, Arrow plans to continue to service Sydney Sideloaders’ existing clients. Arrow also plans to provide Sydney-based port logistics services to its own clients.

Sydney Sideloaders director Chris Divis is to stay on with Arrow after the acquisition as port logistics manager NSW.

Other members of the current operational team at Sydney Sideloaders will also join the Arrow team. Arrow said it would move some staff from Melbourne to Sydney to assist with the integration.

Mr Divis said he was pleased to have concluded the transaction with Arrow.

“We look forward to being part of a larger, growing organisation that has the same focus on customer service that Sydney Sideloaders has always had,” he said.

Arrow managing director Craig Webster the company was extremely pleased to have acquired Sydney Sideloaders.

“The operation will complement our existing business extremely well and enable us to provide a greater level of service to new and existing clients in both Melbourne and Sydney,” he said.

This acquisition will be formally complete on 2 September 2019. Arrow and Sydney Sideloaders will be in touch with clients with more information prior to that date.

Manned quarantine depot
Arrow also announced that it has become of one three manned quarantine depots in Melbourne after receiving approval from the Australian Department of Agriculture.

This will assis in providing increased quarantine capacity to accommodate the upcoming brown marmorated stink bug season from September 1 to April 2020.

Arrow, in conjunction with the DOA, will have two quarantine officers at its site in Toll Drive Altona North, from 7am to 3pm every weekday. This new arrangement will commence from Monday 2, September with Arrow taking pre-bookings for this service now.

Arrow will also be the only manned depot outside the Port of Melbourne precinct. This will provide transport operators and importers from both metro and country Victoria, increased flexibility for quarantine services than is currently available.
