FREIGHT and Trade Alliance has announced director Travis Brooks-Garrett is leaving to take on the role of general manager – cargo partnerships with DP World Logistics Australia effective from October.

In a statement to FTA members, director Paul Zalai praised Mr Brooks-Garrett’s contribution.

“Since commencing with Freight & Trade Alliance in 2015, Travis has played an important role in FTA’s rapid growth, policy development and structure,” Mr Zalai said.

“Travis also led our formal secretariat role with the Australian Peak Shippers Association since January 2017, re-building a strong exporter focussed membership, deepening our involvement in shipping and logistics issues, and culminating in our election to the Global Shippers Forum board in 2018.”

Paul Zalai and Caroline Zalai are to return to being the sole FTA directors.

“We will continue to bring on more outstanding trade professional resources to ensure continuation as Australia’s leading international logistics advocacy body,” Mr Zalai said.

From 7 October Mr Zalai is to take over the primary secretariat responsibilities reporting to the APSA officers and committee of management.

Andrew Crawford is to begin a newly created role as head of trade and policy focusing on importer / exporter advocacy and member support.

“Aside from being a dedicated, highly intelligent and trusted business partner, Travis has been and will continue to be a true friend to Caroline, myself and the FTA team,” Mr Zalai said.

“We wish Travis all the very best for the future.”

DPWA released a statement saying they were “pleased to welcome Travis Brooks-Garrett”.

“This newly formed role will focus on supporting DP World Logistics Australia grow partnerships with cargo owners through new and innovative solutions,” the stevedore said in a statement.
