IAN Graham, flotilla commander for the Geelong Coast Guard, is to speak at the Australian Cruise Association Conference Breakfast on Friday, September 6, the closing presentation in the 2019 Annual Conference program.
Each year, ACA organises a speaker from an organisation providing support for the local communities in which their conference takes place.
“We have had some wonderful local speakers attend our conference breakfasts who have been able to make an important connection between our delegates and the destination,” said ACA chief executive Jill Abel.
“As the Coast Guard plays such an important role in the boating industry, we felt this was an incredibly relevant presentation for our Conference in Geelong.”
A volunteer organisation, the Coast Guard’s main role is education and training around boating and using the water safely, but their other very important responsibility is search and rescue.
The Coast Guard also delivers vessel tracking and monitoring and provides public education courses as well as overseeing all licencing.
“Our Friday breakfasts are a wonderful finale to our conferences and help to inspire, motivate and educate our delegates,” Ms Abel said.
ACA is to make a donation to the Geelong Coast Guard which is to go toward their training programs.
ACAs 23rd annual conference and AGM is to be held at the Novotel Geelong from September 4-6, 2019.
