A PORT operated by terminal giant ICTSI has been recognised as a great place to work.

Operadora Portuaria Centroamericana, the Honduran subsidiary of ICTSI, was recently recognised as among the most attractive companies to work for in the logistics and distribution category, according to Central America-based recruitment portal Tecoloco.com.

OPC operates Puerto Cortes in Honduras, the biggest port in Central America 4’s (CA-4) region – serving Guatemala, El Salvador, Honduras and Nicaragua.

The study was conducted between November 2018 and January 2019, evaluating 15 factors on employer preference, including remuneration, benefits, growth opportunities and work environment.

OPC chief executive Mariano Turnes said the recognition showed ICTSI’s commitment to investing in “human capital”.

“ICTSI and OPC have always believed in Honduras and the potential of its people; that’s why five years ago we decided to invest in the country,” he said.

Mr Turnes said by investing in and contracting, they had been able to generate more than 4000 jobs — improving the lives of Honduran families and ultimately, contributing to the economy.

“This places us as among the industry leaders, five years after starting operations,” he said.

ICTSI owns Victoria International Container Terminal, the third container terminal at the Port of Melbourne.
