FREIGHT and courier company CouriersPlease has appointed its first chief commercial offer to oversee the merge of the sales and marketing team and further align the company’s outputs to create more cohesion. The newly created role is part of CP’s recent structural change.

Before being appointed to his new role at CP, Paul Roper was Victorian state manager at CP for three years. He has gained 25 years’ experience in logistics and transportation across major global organisations. Mr Roper’s particular experience is in sales management, global business development, and designing efficient supply chain models that deliver customer value and shareholder returns.

In his 19 years at DHL Express, Mr Roper spent 13 years overseas, with postings in New Zealand, Fiji, Malaysia and Singapore – holding various roles including national sales manager (New Zealand & Malaysia), general manager South Pacific as well as global multinational customer director South Asia. He has previously been network manager of global operations at TOLL and international general manager at TNT Express.

As CCO at CP, Mr Roper will be responsible for supporting revenue generation across all channels within the company as well as supporting key customer acquisition nationally. He will work closely with the sales team to develop attractive products and services to bring to market and drive marketing strategies.

Currently, Mr Roper is leading his team in working on an after-hours point-to-point delivery, which will launch before July. It will enable consumers to receive twilight or weekend delivery, allowing retailers to keep trading after their stores have closed for the day.

Mr Roper said, “I’m thrilled to step into the new role at CP to oversee structural changes and enhancements over the coming months. I have a keen interest in exploring and investigating digital marketing strategies and understanding how technology can play a role in improving specific commercial areas.

“We will continue to challenge ourselves and the way we can improve and innovate our services and offerings for consumers and businesses. I’m looking forward to delivering many new initiatives in the months ahead.”

CP’s restructure will see the sales and marketing team merge to build a closer relationship with joint accountability for revenue generation.
