OVER the past week a new Liebherr crane was discharged at Patrick Terminals – Brisbane AutoStrad. The discharge was completed over several days and involved 200 individual lifts successfully managed by Patrick Terminal and Liebherr personnel together with specialist contractors.

Specifically, there were 11 heavy lifts using ship cranes, with the largest being the tandem lift of the 98-tonne, 74-metre main beam.

The new ship to shore crane when assembled and commissioned will be the largest in size and capability in Brisbane with the ability to efficiently stevedore 14,000 TEU vessels.

It will take 14 weeks to assemble and specialist contractors will utilise 300-tonne mobile cranes and other specialist equipment to assemble the crane.

This was the second Liebherr crane to be discharged in the same number of weeks by Patrick Terminals with an additional ship-to-shore crane also joining the Sydney operations.
