PORT of Melbourne recently finished installing new 150-tonne bollards at Swanson Dock East and West to accommodate bigger ships.
This $8.5m project was engineered by AECOM and completed by lead contractor McConnell Dowell.
The 20 bollards were installed over a 15 month construction period.
“To enable growth in trade volumes and vessel sizes into the future, Port of Melbourne stands ready to accommodate vessels up to 337 metres in length at Swanson Dock International Container Terminals,”
Port of Melbourne said in a statement. “As larger container ships continue to cascade onto the Australian trade routes, Port of Melbourne continues to invest in key infrastructure to receive them.”
