  • Captain's Lyzlov, Woods, Davis and Maguire having completed 2 days Emergency Simulation Training including enhanced professional development elements across Port Phillip Heads, Port of Melbourne and Port of Geelong. Extensive preparation was undertaken prior to this session with scenarios shaped around common emergency skills, enhanced emergency skills, licence class progression risk profiles, transit towage and learnings from recent occurrences experienced across all port areas. The team also workshopped and simulated response scenarios to air draft breaches detected by the new LIDAR system in the Port of Melbourne. Many thanks to James Riley and the AMC Search Sim Team for their expertise, enthusiasm and great humour.

  • In early 2025, Auriga Aviation proudly flew JuniorBuddy solar lights into Tennant Creek aboard our Airbus H125—turning a powerful STEM initiative into real-world impact. Assembled by Karratha students in partnership with SolarBuddy and Airbus Helicopters, the lights were distributed by The Tennant Creek Mob Aboriginal Corporation to families living in town camps, providing much-needed support where power access is limited. We’re honoured to play a small part in helping light the way for remote communities.

🚁💡From Karratha to Tennant Creek, STEM education is lighting the way! In October 2024, students in Karratha came together to assemble JuniorBuddy solar lights as part of an inspiring STEM education event, thanks to our partnership with Airbus and Auriga Aviation (Auriga Group Pty Ltd). At the start of Term 1, 2025, these lights made their way to children in the community of Tennant Creek flown on an Airbus H125 helicopter from Auriga Aviation – turning education into action, and action into impact. The lights were distributed thanks to The Tennant Creek Mob Aboriginal Corporation where they were gifted to local children and families who live in town camps on the outskirts of Tennant Creek and struggle with high energy costs; and we’ve heard some positive comments on their impact. “Most use their SolarBuddy light when they don't have power at home or if they walk into town at night to visit family, get food or attend youth activities or community events.” “One youth told us they were really good for spotting snakes at night and showed us a photo of a python he'd spotted a few nights earlier. “ “Another youth told us she puts her SolarBuddy light on the back of her nana's wheelchair at night, so she doesn't get hit by a car. Thank you, Airbus, Auriga Aviation and The Tennant Creek Mob Aboriginal Corporation for your incredible support in making this possible!💛 #SolarBuddy #STEMeducation #EnergyPoverty #BrighterFutures
