ACFS in NewZealand breakthrough

THE TZANEROS family’s ACFS Port Logistics has completed a major expansion in the New Zealand market with the acquisition of three businesses from the Coda Group.

The takeover of Coda’s Auckland 3PL Transport, Auckland Freight Station (FAK), and Christchurch (Rolleston) DC operations was finalised on 1 August and officially began trading as ACFS Port Logistics NZ last weekend.

ACFS said this marked a significant milestone as it involved one of NZ’s major port logistics operators and enabled the group to replicate its comprehensive Australian end-to-end landside offering across NZ, including: FCL transport, FCL depots, warehousing freight station (FAK), 3PL warehousing, and an empty container depot in Auckland under the joint venture brand Tyne ACFS.

"We can now stop treading water in the NZ market and offer our full suite of services to customers, while adding greater value to those transitioning from Coda,” Arthur Tzaneros, MD and CEO of ACFS, said.

“With critical infrastructure in strategic Auckland and Christchurch locations, we can execute our strategy of delivering seamless port logistics solutions that improve efficiency, provide flexibility through FCL storage facilities, and 24-hour transport services via road and rail — all while delivering cost-competitive outcomes for our valued customers."

Steve Butler, Head of Port Logistics Oceania, said the acquisition completed ACFS’s full spectrum offering across ANZ. “This milestone represents more than expansion, it is the culmination of strategic planning, a shared culture, and a united focus on delivering exceptional service. As we integrate operations, our priorities are ensuring continuity for customers, supporting our people, and living our values across both sides of the Tasman.”

Coda was formed in 2015 through the merger of Tapper Transport, Priority Logistics, Metrobox, Metropack and DTL to bring 3PL transport and warehousing, intermodal freight hubs, and 4PL freight management together into a cohesive whole. It is jointly-owned by Port of Tauranga and Kotahi.
