THE CMA CGM Group has opened a new agency in Nuku’alofa, Tonga, adding to recent expansion in the South Pacific that has seen offices also launched in Samoa, American Samoa, Vanuatu and the Solomon Islands.
The Group says the new Tonga agency provides local people and businesses with easier access to its services “and allows us to deliver more customized shipping solutions.
“This presence enables our team to respond more quickly and establish stronger connections with partners. Beyond supporting our growth across the Pacific Islands, the agency also contributes to stimulating the local economy and that of surrounding islands,” it says.
The agency is led by general manager Cadriana Mataele, whose appointment reflects CMA CGM’s commitment to promoting female leadership across its Pacific operations.
“The Tongan way of life thrives through the connections we have with each other,” Ms Mataele said “In a similar way, CMA CGM allows Tonga to thrive by connecting it to the world. As a global player in shipping and logistics, our commitment is to provide simplified and optimised solutions that meet the needs of our island country. At the heart of this is a commitment to providing environmentally sustainable solutions, it simply reflects who we are.”
Tonga plays a pivotal role in regional trade, and the new agency will strengthen these vital connections for exports and imports across the Pacific through ANL-operated services, including ANZPAC, Shane Walden, MD of ANL & CMA CGM Group Agencies, said.
“Having a dedicated team in Tonga is essential to meeting the unique needs of the local market. This new agency will improve service reliability and strengthen our position in the Pacific.”
