AURIGA Group has formally launched its new bunkering division with the arrival in Brisbane and entry into commercial service of the tanker Auriga Titan.

Built in Thailand in 2012 and most recently named Golden Bristol under Singapore ownership the 3,584 DWT, 90.46-metre vessel was provisionally registered under the Australian flag with port of registry Brisbane in mid November.

It was officially registered to Auriga Group in mid-December, according to Equasis, and underwent refit and survey at the Pandan Shipyard in Singapore receiving full Class Survey certification after its ClassNK certificates expired in early November.

The bunker tanker left Singapore 12 January and arrived in Brisbane early on 3 February for some further preparatory work. Auriga Titan’s first job was bunkering cruise liner Carnival Luminosa at the Brisbane Cruise Terminal on Sunday (8 February).

Auriga Titan has an all-Australian crew with significant years of experience in bunker barge operations, the companies say, adding that the expansion of bunker services in Brisbane will enhance the marine refuelling capability within the port, adding significant contingency and redundancy for port customers. The vessel will supply multiple fuel grades to the market.

Auriga Titan replaces ICS Allegiance on charter to Viva Energy in Brisbane. The latter has now sailed to China for special survey drydocking.
