WISETECH Global has announced a new integration between its CargoWise logistics‑execution platform and PortConnect, New Zealand’s port community system, giving freight forwarders and transport operators access to more granular, near‑real‑time container‑movement data across major NZ ports.
PortConnect — jointly owned by Ports of Auckland and Port of Tauranga — aggregates operational data from Northport, Auckland, Tauranga, Lyttelton, CentrePort Wellington and Timaru Container Terminal, including their inland facilities.
The platform acts as a single digital access point for shipping lines, transporters, importers, exporters, freight forwarders and regulators.
WiseTech said the new integration brings 30 additional container‑event data types into CargoWise, covering quayside and landside movements such as container discharge, availability for collection, Customs and Ministry for Primary Industries clearance status, truck gate‑in and gate‑out, and loading onto departing vessels.
The enriched data feed gives CargoWise users a more complete picture of container status changes inside the port environment, helping operators plan truck movements, manage storage windows and avoid demurrage exposure.
PortConnect customer relationship manager David Knowles said the port community system is designed to improve collaboration and efficiency through data sharing.
“Integrating our data into CargoWise brings together vessel and container data, enabling our customers to more efficiently manage their landside movements as part of their wider supply chain,” he said.
WiseTech’s head of carrier integration and transformation, Stuart Hayman, said the port environment involves “multiple stakeholders in a complex web of container movements”, and that each event has downstream impacts on the supply chain.
“By integrating that event data into CargoWise, container events and vessel schedules are brought together,” he said.
“Freight forwarders now have access to near real‑time information so they can plan and execute transport moves more efficiently while reducing costs from delays and demurrage fees.”
The integration marks another step in WiseTech’s strategy to deepen data connectivity between carriers, ports and landside logistics operators across the region.
