FREIGHT forwarding, customs and logistics business Customs Agency Services (CAS) is celebrating 50 years in the industry in what is says is five decades spent helping Australian importers and exporters move goods that are complex, urgent or business-critical.
Founded in Adelaide in 1976, CAS has shipped more than $1 billion in cargo across its history and today operates nationally as a specialist in international and domestic freight forwarding, customs brokerage, third-party warehousing and logistics, and customs advice — with key strength in the government, aerospace and eCommerce sectors.
Five decades of building relationships across customs and international logistics have given CAS the ability, via its global network, to call on freight and customs specialists at more than 700 locations worldwide.
CAS joined the Mondiale VGL network four years ago, with a view to strengthening that global capability.
CAS has worked in the defence sector for more than 30 years across all markets, building what it says is “a solid understanding of the industry and of defence regimes around the world”.
CAS manager supply chain and commercial Solutions, Ben Poprawski, said half a century in this industry had seen “enormous changes to the trade environment”.
“Regulations have grown more complex, technology has transformed how freight moves, and supply chains have faced disruption few could have predicted — and all the while, customer expectations have surged, from simply moving goods to moving them quickly, transparently and sustainably,” Ms Poprawski said.
“Through all of it, our focus has stayed the same: helping our customers move goods efficiently, compliantly and without unnecessary surprises.”
CAS manager client and business solutions, Katerina Papagni, said during the previous 50 years, they had “built a global network of trusted partners, now further strengthened through our own Mondiale VGL offices, giving us access to specialist expertise worldwide and enabling tailored freight solutions”.
“As we look ahead, we remain focused on delivering a transparent, reliable service for our customers while navigating ongoing geopolitical challenges across global supply chains,” Ms Papagni said.
