FREIGHT forwarding startup Verus Global announced a gross turnover of $52.8 million in its second year of operation – double its gross turnover for its first 12 months ($26 million).

Verus Global CEO Jackson Meyer, who was the winner of the Young Achiever Award at the 2019 DCN Shipping & Maritime Industry Awards, said it had been a non-stop year.

“We are pleased to report such a great result at our second birthday,” he said.

“The team has been essential for our continued growth and success in what has been a difficult year for everyone. We are thrilled to enter our third year and will continue to optimise our services, expand our shipping network and build our client relationships.”

Mr Meyer said operating was particularly difficult when COVID-19 first struck.

“The thought of not being able to do what you normally would in regards to travelling, meeting clients, agents and suppliers, and unpredictable sales put a lot of doubt in my mind as to what the norm would be and how this would affect the business and our people,” he said. “However, navigating these challenges together has in many ways fast tracked building relationships for us and many of our clients. We are in a great position now to springboard off our achievements in 2020 into further growth and success in year three.”
