With the addition of Angus Offer as general manager, Dan-Bunkering further extends its industry footprint into Western Australia and strengthens its presence within the Oil & Gas sector, reinforcing the company’s commitment to growth and service excellence across the APAC region, it says.

Mr Offer has been snapped up by Dan-Bunkering after his previous employer, Cockett, was shut down worldwide by shareholders Vitol and Glencore which decided the 45-yo company is now ‘non-core’.

Dan-Bunkering says he brings over 20 years of experience in the maritime and energy industries in Europe and across APAC. In 2010, he established and led the Australian office of Cockett, where he developed deep expertise in marine fuel supply and trading while building strong commercial relationships across the ANZ shipping community and supply network.

Mr Offer will be based in Perth, Western Australia.

In addition, Dan-Bunkering has appointed Sophia Pan as Senior Fuel Supplier, based out of Melbourne. With over 15 years of experience and a long history of dealing with large Chinese customers, Ms Pan’s arrival further strengthens the company’s APAC team and enhances the company’s ability to serve clients in the region, it says, and further solidifies the company’s their position in the market.

Lena Johnston, managing director Dan-Bunkering (Australia) Pty Ltd said: “The onboarding of Sophia and Angus takes Dan-Bunkering’s supply solutions in Oceania to a new level. Their expertise and innovative approaches will significantly enhance our operational capabilities and client offerings in the region, and I am excited to welcome both onboard.”

Asked by DCN whether the team expansion signalled the company’s exploration of the supply of alternative fuels in the local market, Dan-Bunkering said: “The IMO Net Zero Framework will, hopefully, enter into force by 2027.

“This framework will require the maritime sector to significantly reduce its global GHG intensity. Building on 40 years of experience in securing maritime energy, Dan-Bunkering is now preparing to facilitate the industry's transition to carbon neutral shipping.

“We are, however, dependent upon local infrastructure and authorities to enable the handling and supply to vessels calling Australian ports.”

“The arrival of two highly skilled colleagues not only strengthens our leadership bench but also enhances the value proposition we bring to our clients, partners, and colleagues,”, said Jarle Aakermann, managing director Dan-Bunkering (Singapore) Pte Ltd.

“With Angus on board, we are better equipped to deepen collaboration and combine expertise to offer holistic, seamless service to our customers, while Sophia’s appointment is a great asset to the APAC team in expanding the solutions we can offer across the region.”
