DNV establishes ANZ Naval Centre in Perth

INTERNATIONAL maritime business DNV has launched a new Australia and New Zealand naval centre, formalising a dedicated regional hub for naval classification and technical assurance — but the organisation has confirmed it is not opening a new physical office in Perth.

Instead, the centre will operate as an organisational capability unit, drawing on Perth‑based naval specialists alongside staff in other existing DNV locations.

The company said the model reflects how defence‑industry technical teams increasingly work across distributed sites, secure client facilities and hybrid arrangements.

DNV said the new centre consolidates its naval expertise into a single structure to support major Australian and New Zealand fleet programs.

The team includes specialists with experience in classification, assurance, autonomous and uncrewed systems, and personnel holding AGSVA or equivalent clearances.

The centre will provide lifecycle support across naval asset design, construction and sustainment, and will apply DNV’s remote operations and digital assurance capabilities to defence programs.

DNV said the initiative strengthens its ability to support sovereign capability development in both countries, with Perth‑based personnel positioned close to key naval, shipbuilding and sustainment stakeholders.
