PARCEL delivery company CouriersPlease is doing its bit to help Australians reduce textile waste and minimise their carbon footprint by recycling their old shoes, socks and textiles through the CP at-home textile collection.

The company is urging people to consider booking a collection of their pre-loved textiles ahead of Global Recycling Day on 18 March, offered through its partnership with sustainable sock company Upparel.

Each year, Australians generate more than 70m tonnes of waste and around 800,000 tonnes of textiles winds up in landfill.

Through the CP-Upparel initiative, people can simply book a collection through the Boomerang returns portal on the Upparel website, and have their old items collected from the comfort of their home. Once collected by a CP courier, Upparel will repurpose the textiles to give them a new life.

The partnership, which began last June, has seen 3272 textile collection bookings, 63,724kg of textiles avoid landfill and in turn, saved 254,894kg of greenhouse gases.

Recently, CP also became low CO2 certified through the Carbon Reduction Institute and is gearing up for the launch of its carbon neutral ePak satchels this year.
