GLADSTONE Ports Corporation’s East Shores Parklands is now known as Gladstone’s ‘Green Jewel’, after winning the ‘Tourism, Attractions & Events’ category at the 2020 Best in Business Awards.

It’s the third time GPC’s premier waterfront parklands have been recognised – GPC won the Tourism Attraction award for East Shores in 2017 and 2018.

A dedicated team of GPC parkland team members manage and maintain the parklands that complements Spinnaker Park and the Marina Parklands.

In August, GPC opened its East Shores Stage 1B to the public, offering the community a waterfront café, bootcamp facility, big-screen outdoor theatre, amphitheatre, basketball hoops and additional barbeque facilities.

East Shores landscape maintenance co-ordinator Amy Ahchay said the award was an ode to the hard work and dedication from everyone in the parks team.

“Thank you to the community for nominating us this year, we are absolutely honoured to win the Tourism, Attractions & Events category for our East Shores Parklands,” Ms Ahchay said

“Expanding the parklands this year with stage 1B has been a fantastic achievement for GPC, and seeing how the community loves this parkland as much as we do makes all our efforts – especially in the middle of summer – well worth it,” she said.

“Our teams pour their hearts into their work and we absolutely love working in our beautiful parklands every day.

“It’s an honour to receive such a prestigious award and we’re so proud to be able to deliver these spaces for our community to relax, play and enjoy.”
